In Memory
of Danielle Hutzell
The Sweet Corn Festival 5K was established in 2004 to help perpetuate the memory of Danielle J. Hutzell. Danielle was born in
Adel on February 10, 1972 and died on March 8, 2000 after a courageous bout with cancer. She graduated from Adel-DeSoto-Minburn and attended the University
of Northern Iowa. While in high school, she participated in softball, track, basketball and cheerleading. She also had a life long love of horses.
Her adult life was dedicated to fitness. And, it is in this context that the Sweet Corn 5K was created. In addition to providing the venue for hundreds
of runners to perform in front of thousands of enthusiastic spectators, the first two years of the race produced nearly $20,000 in charitable contributions
to causes benefiting children.
